How Made-to-Measure Wooden Gates can add the Finishing Touch to your Property

Posted on August 08,2016 by Dave Smith.

If you’re installing a new fence, it’s worth considering made to measure wooden gates at the same time. Think of them as the finishing touch to what may otherwise be just a plain stretch of fencing.

Remember that made-to-measure gates are not only a way to express yourself through your fencing and landscaping, but they will enhance security, too.

The Finishing Touch

If you’re adding fencing to your property for security or privacy reasons, it may not be particularly inspiring in its design. If that’s the case, and you need to install wooden gates too, then this is your chance to add your style to the project.

Think of the timber you’d like to use to complement your fence, as well as the hardware that will finish them off and any stain or paint that you wish to use on the gates. Customising your gate to make it look similar to the rest of the exterior of your home will improve kerb appeal and potentially increase its value.

Matching or Contrasting?

Part of deciding upon your gates’ design is whether you want them to match the rest of the fence and blend in seamlessly, or contrast with the fence and stand out as a focal point. Either way, they will still provide the finishing touch to your fence or property’s exterior, but in different ways.

A streamlined matching gate will give a smart, contemporary finish and works well on side gates or garden gates. Contrasting gates add a stylish feel to driveway gates, especially if you’re installing double gates, as they’ll add a sense of grandeur.

Added Security

Of course, by installing made-to-measure wooden gates, your property’s security will be increased too. The gates will exactly fit the opening they’re made for with no unsightly or unsecure gaps. You can also add the hardware that you require to maintain security, whether in a bolt and padlock form or a lock and key.

Don’t forget that as well as protecting your home from intruders, good quality wooden gates can also help to protect your property from the elements to a certain extent, and if you wish to do so, you can also have them automated for that real touch of luxury!
